Primary School

Preparatory School : Class I to II

St. Nicholas Public School is committed to inculcate competitive spirit and deep desire to excel in academics and extracurricular activities among its students. It follows the CBSE syllabi within which, flexibility of methodology and the use of experiential learning through doing are strongly encouraged. Our system of evaluation takes into account the individualities of different children to provide adequate feedback on the student’s learning without putting undue pressure. As the child progresses through the classes, the assessment is gradually modified to prepare external tests and competitive exams.

TEACHING AIDS

Children love the fun part in learning through doing that makes them excited. As academics are a part of the learning process, there are innovative skills that we apply by involving many Educational Aids to go along with the curriculum. The idea of teaching aids is assuring to help the children relate to various concepts like Mathematics or Science. The wooden stand of abacus is perhaps the early memories of our own childhood. Children love to count and say new words.

At St. Nicholas Public School, the yearly syllabus is divided into two parts half yearly and annual exam. It is further break up chapter and month wise. It is further splited  up based on number of periods required. There is a need for our teachers to determine and plan what we must do in our class. We know in a class, our teachers are teaching many students from different family backgrounds and different levels of ability and achievement. That is why we emphasize the need to do preparation especially in selecting the right teaching aids to use. In selecting teaching aids we make sure it is suitable with our content of knowledge which we share with our students. Teaching aids take away the boredom of learning and hence children are able to relate the same.

We use the following teaching aids in Primary Classes

Pictorial charts, Blackboard, Jodoygan, Abacus, Flash cards, Hand Puppets, Dictionary, Coloured Chalks, Crayons, Sketch pens, Markers, Live models, magnets, stick puppets and smart class. Academic subjects and Co- curricular activities complement each other and develop a well rounded socially skilled and healthier student. These activities help to develop the student. Students learn useful new skills from their activities especially at primary stage and integrate these activities into their daily lives and learn time management, critical thinking, teamwork and social skills. They develop life long relationship with their peers and learn how to lead others. To develop an all rounder student, various activities are planned and organized regularly. These activities are planned by activity in charges and respective subject teachers under the guidance of principal.
